Brick Bouncer
by NipsApp
A satisfying, one-touch hyper casual arcade game where players aim, launch, and bounce balls through endless waves of bricks. Designed for instant fun, built for long-term retention.
What is Brick Bouncer?
Brick Bouncer is an endless brick-breaking arcade game where players slide to aim, release to launch a cascade of bouncing balls, and smash through progressively tougher brick formations. Simple to learn, challenging to master — designed for short, addictive play sessions.
Built as an internal project by NipsApp Game Studios to showcase their hyper casual game development pipeline — from rapid prototyping to a polished Google Play launch.
Building addictive simplicity
Hyper casual demands ruthless simplicity — games must hook players in seconds, yet retain them through escalating challenge and rewarding feedback loops.
● The Challenge
NipsApp needed a game concept that could be prototyped rapidly, tested with real users, and iterated with minimal overhead. The core loop had to deliver instant gratification while providing enough depth for repeat sessions.
Key constraints: ultra-lightweight build size for emerging markets, smooth physics on budget Android devices, and ad monetization that doesn't break the gameplay flow.
The brick-breaker genre is well-established. Standing out required a fresh take — one that felt both familiar and uniquely satisfying.
● NipsApp's Approach
The team designed a multi-ball launch mechanic where swiping sets the angle and releasing sends a cascade of bouncing balls — amplifying the satisfaction factor compared to single-ball breakers.
Unity's physics pipeline was customized with lean collision handling for smooth performance even on low-end Android hardware. Atlased textures and minimal draw calls kept memory usage tight.
Monetization was placed at natural gameplay pauses — between rounds and after milestones — so ad exposure feels like part of the rhythm, not an interruption.
