The development goal
The goal was to make the characters, game rules and win sequence feel like parts of one game. The reels needed a clear visual frame. Matches needed readable reactions. Larger wins needed a full presentation without allowing the next spin to interrupt it.
The Egyptian setting provided a shared visual language: lapis blue, aged gold, turquoise light, temple columns, fire lamps and a celestial gate.
The work delivered
NipsApp Game Studios worked across the game frontend, outcome presentation, character rigs, win effects, sound integration, interface, onboarding, paytable, replay support and submission packages.
The project also included the connection to Stake Engine’s Remote Game Server, currency formatting and the handling of platform-supplied betting settings.
02 / Complete gameplay system
How does the slot game work?
Players choose an available bet and start a round. Matching paying symbols on three, four or five consecutive reels win from the leftmost reel. Symbols can appear in any row. This is a ways game: it does not use a fixed set of paylines.
- Reveal the grid. The game shows twenty positions across five reels.
- Evaluate matching ways. Each valid combination pays according to the symbol table, bet, Wild multipliers and Celestial Multiplier.
- Play the match reactions. Character actions and effects highlight the winning positions.
- Tumble new symbols. Winning symbols leave and new symbols drop into the spaces. Further wins continue the sequence, subject to the cascade limit.
- Collect and enter features. Ankhs collect Sun Coins on the settled board. Three or more settled Star Gates can trigger free spins.
- Finish the round. The win presentation and active audio finish before the next round becomes available.
Cascades and multipliers
The Celestial Multiplier progresses through 1×, 2×, 3×, 5×, 8× and 12× as winning tumbles continue. It resets for the next paid spin. A limit of twenty winning tumbles applies to each base spin or individual free spin.
Ankh coin collection
After tumbles settle, each Ankh collects all visible Sun Coins. Coin values range from 0.5× to 100× the bet. The collection is bet × total coin values × number of Ankhs. At least one Ankh and one coin must be present.
Mummy Wild multipliers
The Mummy substitutes for paying symbols. Each Wild has a 2×, 3×, 5× or 10× multiplier. Wild multipliers in a winning way multiply together, capped at 50× before the Celestial Multiplier. Wilds do not replace special collection or scatter symbols.
Star Chamber free spins and progression
Three settled Star Gates award eight free spins at Chamber Level 1. Four award ten spins at Level 1. Five or more award twelve spins at Level 2. During the feature, three or more settled Gates add two spins, up to a total feature limit of twenty-four.
Two or more Ankhs in a qualifying free-spin cascade or collection sequence advance the chamber, up to Level 3. Higher levels improve the starting multiplier, sticky-Wild chance and, in later chambers, coin-value selection. A sticky Mummy Wild remains through later tumbles of the same free spin; it does not carry into the next spin.
| Level | Chamber | Starting multiplier | Sticky-Wild chance setting |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Outer Tomb | 2× | 10% |
| 2 | Astral Hall | 3× | 25% |
| 3 | Pharaoh’s Sanctum | 8× | 40% |
Sticky-Wild settings are feature mechanics, not the chance of winning a round. Availability and permitted game options depend on the operator and jurisdiction.
Base play and optional feature entrances
The three entrances use the same core free-spin system with different starting conditions. They are not three unrelated bonus games. The interface shows the complete cost and requires confirmation before activation.
| Mode | Cost × base bet | Starting conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Base | 1× | Standard play with natural feature triggers |
| Star Chamber | 80× | 8 free spins, Chamber Level 1 |
| Astral Hall | 200× | 10 free spins, Chamber Level 2 |
| Pharaoh’s Sanctum | 500× | 12 free spins, Chamber Level 3, three sticky Wilds on the first free-spin board |
Symbol values and payout rules
The main paying symbols are Pharaoh, Anubis, Horus, Scarab, Eye of Horus, Ace, King, Queen and Jack. Values below are multiples of the base bet per winning way, before applicable Wild and Celestial multipliers.
| Symbol | 3 reels | 4 reels | 5 reels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pharaoh | 1.5× | 5× | 20× |
| Anubis | 1.2× | 4× | 15× |
| Horus | 1× | 3× | 12× |
| Scarab | 0.8× | 2.5× | 10× |
| Eye of Horus | 0.6× | 2× | 8× |
| Ace | 0.4× | 1.2× | 4× |
| King | 0.35× | 1× | 3.5× |
| Queen | 0.3× | 0.9× | 3× |
| Jack | 0.25× | 0.8× | 2.5× |
The theoretical return to player is 96.000000% in each mode, rounded from the verified lookup weights. This is a long-run mathematical value, not a promised return for a player or session. The maximum payout is 20,000× the selected base bet for the whole round, including its free spins. The round ends when that cap is reached.
03 / Characters, atmosphere and sound
Turning symbols into characters
The animation work focused on stable faces, attached hands and weapons, readable actions and a smooth return to the starting pose. Spine skeletal animation lets the game move separate painted layers without swapping the character’s identity between poses.
Distinct match actions
The Pharaoh casts with his staff. Anubis has roar and breath actions. Horus opens and strikes with his wings. The Scarab takes flight and visits matching positions. The Eye of Horus changes its gaze and casts a seal. Mummy Wild actions use separate arm and hand movement.
A, K, Q and J matches can reveal Egyptian performers in a separate match scene. The scene uses actual winning cells as its targets. It does not create or alter a payout.
Full-body Pharaoh wins
Larger wins place the Pharaoh in front of a throne with a separate payout display, coin effects and controlled lighting. Authored win actions use 289, 385 or 481 samples, depending on the tier. A breathing hold follows the action when more presentation time is needed.
The ten revised Anubis, Horus, Scarab, Eye and Mummy actions use 241 samples each. Frame counts are implementation details; joint stability, timing and readable poses were checked separately.
Temple and Star Gate effects
The environment combines an ornate gold reel frame, animated fire lamps, floor reflection and a blue Star Gate. The wormhole uses depth layers and inward-moving particles to suggest travel into the chamber. The lamps and reflection are positioned relative to the game frame so they stay aligned as the layout changes.
Sound and Pharaoh dialogue
The audio system connects reel, match, collection, feature and win cues to their game events. Background music lowers during effects and voice playback. Event-specific English Pharaoh lines rotate to reduce immediate repetition. Players can mute all sound or turn the voice off separately.
Active audio and presentation completion are part of the round lock. This prevents the next spin from cutting a win sequence short.
04 / Interface and engineering
A browser game connected to server outcomes
HTML5 and Spine rendering
The frontend uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Canvas and the Spine WebGL runtime. One shared Spine renderer serves the symbols and hero scenes. Display resolution and texture loading are managed to limit unnecessary work. Painted fallback artwork is available if a character asset cannot load.
Stake Engine RGS integration
The game authenticates with the Remote Game Server and reads its bet levels, default amount, limits, currency and jurisdiction settings. Server-connected rounds use the returned outcome. The animation layer presents it; it does not choose a different result. Authentication failure does not silently switch a hosted session to local random play.
Replay and round recovery
Session-free replay URLs can load a recorded outcome with its mode, event, amount and currency. Replay controls display the cost and payout multiplier and allow another playback without placing a bet. Active-round restoration and completion handling are implemented, with their live recovery test scope tracked separately.
Currency and social mode
Amounts use micro-unit precision and support sub-cent payouts. Social-mode displays use SC or GC without a dollar prefix and force English wording. The interface responds to jurisdiction restrictions and disables unaffordable play. Insufficient-balance handling and zero-payout completion behavior have local regression coverage.
Player controls and onboarding
The interface includes bet stepping, a spin control, a spacebar shortcut, autoplay confirmation, feature-cost confirmation, sound settings and a rules panel. An illustrated tutorial explains ways, tumbles, collection, Wilds, free spins and symbol values. A book button opens the tutorial again.
Responsive presentation
The layout adapts the frame, title, reels and controls for desktop, portrait screens and compact popout views. Testing included browser viewport checks at 390×844, 844×390 and 400×225. These checks show layout behavior; they do not replace performance testing on older physical phones.

06 / Development approach
How the project was refined
1. Establish the rules
The team defined the reel layout, paying symbols, collection rules, feature progression and round limits. The same rules guided the outcome data, interface and paytable.
2. Improve the performance
Character rigs were reviewed for head and mouth placement, attached limbs, loop seams and motion timing. Recorded playback exposed stop-start movements that were refined into continuous actions and recovery.
3. Verify the whole flow
Work then covered confirmation steps, loading, currency display, rules, replay completion and packaged assets. Hosted previews checked that the uploaded frontend matched the intended release.
07 / Evidence and delivery
What was delivered and verified?
NipsApp Game Studios delivered the game frontend, animation assets, audio integration, math publishing files, artwork and versioned upload archives. Release 4.3.5 was published as Frontend v2 in Stake Engine, paired with Math v1. It was resubmitted for review on 22 October 2026.
| Area | Recorded result | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Local regression checks | 33 of 33 passed | Recorded release test run |
| Outcome-book audit | 400,000 books checked; zero reported award issues | 100,000 books per mode; independent board evaluator |
| Spine geometry checks | 55 clips sampled for finite geometry and loop poses | 13 symbol rigs and 5 actor rigs |
| Hosted loading and authentication | 4.3.5 loaded and connected to staging RGS | Frontend v2 / Math v1 |
| Hosted recorded replays | Zero-win and 164.50× win playback completed | Winning replay completed twice; Play Again restored |
| Submission package | Archive integrity and source/build parity checked | Frontend, math and artwork delivery |
Project status: the latest recorded milestone is review submission, not a confirmed public casino launch. Live wallet settlement, interrupted-round recovery and older physical-device checks were not established by the recorded hosted preview tests. No player-retention, revenue or conversion result is claimed in this case study.
The main outcome is a working, server-connected slot frontend with documented mechanics, distinct character actions and repeatable recorded-round presentation. Publishing a frontend build in Studio is separate from platform approval and public release.

09 / Questions and answers
Pharaoh’s Star Chamber: common questions
Who developed Pharaoh’s Star Chamber?
Pharaoh’s Star Chamber was developed by NipsApp Game Studios. The project covers HTML5 slot gameplay, Spine 2D character animation, interface design, audio integration and Stake Engine frontend integration.
Which game category does it belong to?
It is a casino slot game with RNG-based outcomes, an Egyptian theme, a 5×4 reel grid and a ways-to-win pay model. It is a chance-based game, not a skill game or an action-adventure game.
Does it use paylines or ways to win?
Pharaoh’s Star Chamber uses up to 1,024 ways to win. Matches start on the leftmost reel and continue across at least three adjacent reels. Matching symbols can occupy different rows.
What triggers free spins?
Three or more Star Gates on the settled grid trigger Star Chamber free spins. Natural triggers award eight, ten or twelve spins based on the Gate count. Three or more Gates during free spins add two more spins, within the twenty-four-spin limit.
How were the character animations built?
The characters use Spine 2D skeletal rigs with separate painted attachments, bone movement and mesh animation. Match scenes and win scenes add effects around the action. Animation does not change the server’s outcome.
Can the game run in a mobile browser?
The HTML5 frontend has responsive layouts for desktop and mobile viewports. Recorded tests include portrait, landscape and small popout layouts. Performance on older physical Android and iOS devices still needs separate verification.
What are its RTP and maximum win?
Release 4.3.5 has a theoretical RTP that rounds to 96.000000% in each mode. The maximum total payout for a round is 20,000× the base bet. RTP describes long-run mathematical return and does not guarantee a session result.
Is the game approved or live on Stake?
This case study records Frontend v2, release 4.3.5, paired with Math v1 and resubmitted for review on 22 October 2026. It does not claim final Stake approval or a public casino release.
